Feeding the Needy While Supporting Local Restaurants
Submitted by: Samarth Tewari and Geetika Tewari, Fremont Bridge Rotary
Project Owner: Fremont Bridge Rotary Club
This special COVID campaign is for the dual mission of feeding freshly made, hot, nutritious, individually packed meals to the homeless population and in the process, helping local restaurants. Both groups have been greatly impacted by this current health and economic crisis. We have partnered with various local restaurants as well as shelters where we can serve. We recently partnered with the city of Fremont to support their winter shelter program for the local homeless population.
The project is led by Samarth Tewari, a rising sophomore at Mission San Jose High School, Fremont. At the onset of COVID, which completely disrupted our lives, Samarth decided to help both of these groups through a fundraising campaign. He started with friends & family and then expanded to a broader local community. This program has since been extremely successful and well-received while generating grants from corporations such as the Safeway Foundation, Smart and Finals, Trader Joes, and Grocery Outlet.
